China Minmetals Corporation 2026-03-20
On March 13, China Minmetals and the People's Government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region signed a strategic cooperation agreement in Beijing. Chen Dexin, Chairman and Party Group Secretary of China Minmetals, and Wei Tao, Deputy Secretary of the Guangxi CPC Provincial Committee and Chairman of the Region, attended the meeting and witnessed the signing. They were joined by Cao Zhiqiang, Vice Chairman of Guangxi, Zhong Dezhi, Secretary-General of the Regional Government, and China Minmetals executives Wang Jiezhi and Wang Xingquan.
Chen Dexin welcomed the delegation and expressed gratitude for the long-standing support from the Guangxi CPC Committee and Government. He emphasized that China Minmetals remains dedicated to its mission of "serving the country through mining" and fulfilling its responsibility to build a world-class mining power. The company continues to strengthen its core function of "securing and safeguarding national metal mineral supply" and enhancing its core competitiveness in "integrated high-level industrial chain development," supported by a robust portfolio across six business sectors: metals and mining, metallurgical construction, technology industry, trade and logistics, financial capital, and real estate development. Highlighting the strategic importance of Guangxi, Chen noted that both parties have engaged in extensive communication since last year to build a strategic partnership. This agreement marks a new starting point to align China Minmetals’ strengths with Guangxi’s resources and national requirements. The goal is to deepen multi-sector cooperation, accelerate project implementation, and drive industrial upgrading, thereby writing a new chapter in enterprise-local government collaboration and better serving national resource security and regional development strategies.
Wei Tao thanked China Minmetals for its sustained support and provided an overview of Guangxi’s economic and social progress, particularly in the non-ferrous and critical metals sectors. Known as the "Home of Non-ferrous Metals," Guangxi is rich in strategic mineral resources. Since last year, the region has achieved remarkable results in high-quality industrial growth, entering its most prosperous development period in history. Currently, Guangxi is focusing on building ten modern pillar manufacturing industries, including non-ferrous metals and critical metal materials. Wei warmly invited central enterprises like China Minmetals to participate in building national-level industrial platforms, increase investment in R&D, and deepen the development of high-quality overseas resources to bolster the region’s high-quality industrial growth.
Following the talks, the two parties signed the strategic cooperation agreement. Under the agreement, cooperation will focus on the construction of national-level critical metal platforms in Guangxi, resource exploration and development, technological innovation, and the green and low-carbon economy and environmental governance.
Prior to the meeting, the delegation toured the China Minmetals Mineral and Metallurgical Technology Achievement Exhibition.
Other officials from the Guangxi government and relevant department heads from China Minmetals were also in attendance.
