On January 20, Zhu Kebing, Deputy Secretary of the Party Leadership Group, Director, and General Manager of China Minmetals, held a working meeting in Shenzhen with Wang Chuanfu, Chairman and President of BYD Group. The two sides exchanged views on deepening strategic cooperation. Wang Xingquan, Member of the Party Leadership Group and Vice General Manager of China Minmetals, and Liu Weihua, General Manager of BYD's 12th Division, attended the meeting.

Zhu Kebing expressed his gratitude to BYD for its long-standing support to China Minmetals and briefly reviewed the development history of China Minmetals and the cooperation between the two sides. He stated that China Minmetals has always adhered to the mission of "serving the country through mining and strengthening the country through mining," continuously enhanced its core function of "guaranteeing the supply and security of national metal and mineral resources," and persistently improved its core competitiveness in "integrated high-level development across the entire metal mining industry chain." He noted that the company is anchored to the functional positioning of being the "National Team for Resource Guarantee and Main Force for 'Two-New' Services," and has formed a layout of six major business sectors: metal mining, metallurgical construction, technology industry, trade and logistics, financial capital, and real estate development. In 2025, it successfully established China Salt Lake Industry Group Co., Ltd. in cooperation with the Qinghai Provincial Government to better shoulder the important responsibility of guaranteeing national mineral resource security and food security. China Minmetals and BYD share common missions and identical goals in implementing national strategies, with a solid foundation for cooperation and broad prospects. He expressed hope that both sides would further build cooperation platforms, innovate cooperation models, and jointly carry out technical breakthroughs to promote the comprehensive development and utilization of salt lake resources, pushing cooperation towards deeper, broader, and higher levels to achieve an overlap of advantages and mutual benefit.

Wang Chuanfu welcomed the visit of Zhu Kebing and his delegation. He stated that the transformation of the new energy industry is currently deepening, and the resilience and security of industrial and supply chains are of vital importance. He noted that China Minmetals' industrial layout in key resources and materials—such as copper, lithium, magnesium, nickel, graphite, aluminum foil, and silicon carbide—is a solid foundation for the high-quality development of the new energy vehicle industry, and that the two sides' development strategies are aligned, with obvious complementary advantages and enormous cooperation potential. He expressed hope that both sides would continue to strengthen strategic alignment and deepen practical cooperation in areas such as resource development, technological synergy, and industrial chain synergy to jointly contribute to the steady development of the new energy industrial chain.

Before the meeting, both sides also jointly visited the BYD exhibition hall and laboratory.

Relevant personnel from BYD, along with heads of relevant headquarters departments and affiliated enterprises of China Minmetals, attended the meeting.
