On October 27, the opening ceremony of China Minmetals' Second "Metal Mining Pioneer Program" Workshop was held at Minmetals Plaza. Chen Dexin, Party Group Secretary and Chairman of China Minmetals, attended the ceremony and delivered a speech. The ceremony was moderated by Wang Jiezhi, Deputy Party Group Secretary and Director of China Minmetals. Xu Jiqing, Party Group Member and Vice President of China Minmetals, was also present.

Chen Dexin pointed out that the recently concluded fourth plenary session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China stated that during the "15th Five-Year Plan" period, China's development environment will undergo profound and complex changes, and the country is in a period where strategic opportunities coexist with risks and challenges, with more uncertain and unpredictable factors. Promoting the resource strategy and ensuring the supply and security of national strategic metal mineral resources is the most important task and mission for China Minmetals now and for some time to come. China Minmetals should keep in mind the “top priorities of the country”, gain deep insights into the changes of the times, and build itself into a world-class enterprise, thus becoming a truly national team in ensuring the security of strategic mineral resources.

Chen Dexin emphasized that hosting the Second"Metal Mining Pioneer Program" Workshop is an important measure for China Minmetals to base itself on the broader context of both domestic and international landscapes, bear in mind the "top priorities of the country", and serve the national resource security strategy. It is also an important exploration for China Minmetals to focus on the demand for mining talent, uphold the concept of cultivating a broad base of mining talent, and cultivate international and interdisciplinary talent through the model of "education and training + practical experience". Trainees should deeply understand the strategic considerations and historical mission of this training course from a political height and a global perspective. They should also fortify their political loyalty and always remember the fundamental principle of "central SOEs belong to the Party"; hone the abilities to overcome difficulties and make breakthroughs, and fully enhance their professional skills in mining practice; maintain the style of hard and solid work, carry forward the fine tradition of "serving and reinvigorating the country through the metals and minerals industry", strive diligently, forge ahead with determination, and deliver outstanding performances that live up to the expectations of the Party and the country.

Relevant heads of China Minmetals' headquarters departments and directly-managed subsidiaries, main heads of overseas practical mining subsidiaries, and all trainees attended the opening ceremony.

After two weeks of intensive closed-door training in China, the trainees of this course will proceed to overseas mines for a three-month practical experience, in order to accelerate the cultivation and reserve of a group of international mining talent who can solve problems in overseas resource development, deal with complex international situations, and have expertise in technology, management, and collaboration.
