On the afternoon of July 13, Chairman He Wenbo led a delegation to Shijiazhuang to meet Yu Yong, Chairman of Hebei Iron & Steel Group Co. Ltd. (HBIS) and Peng Zhaofeng, General Manager of HBIS. CFO Shen Ling, Deputy General Manager Feng Guiquan and Yao Ziping, HBIS Deputy General Manager Zhang Hai, and CFO Liu Zhensuo were also present at the meeting. The two sides had in-depth discussions and exchanges of views on the New Normal of the steel industry and on how to further promote bilateral cooperation.

Yu Yong first extended his warm welcome to He Wenbo and his delegation, briefed him on the operating situation and successful experience in reform and development of HBIS in recent years, and described the strategic planning of HBIS as “restoring the progressiveness of steel as the main industry” and promoting refined and international development. Then, the two sides watched a short video briefing on the development of HBIS. He Wenbo spoke highly of the pragmatic initiatives of HBIS in bold and decisive reform and innovation, recalled the traditional friendship and close cooperation between the two sides, introduced the reform and development of Minmetals, and proposed suggestions on how to respond to the New Normal in the steel industry, how to seize the development opportunities for state-owned enterprises to go global, and how to deepen bilateral cooperation throughout the industrial chain. In addition, Yao Ziping also introduced the business development of Minmetals’ “Xinyilian” steel E-commerce platform and other steel logistics parks. They also exchanged views on how to promote bilateral cooperation in E-commerce and steel logistics.

Executives of relevant divisions and units of HBIS, including Zhang Jianzhong, Shi Shaohui, Li Yiren, Yang Guiqing, Yan Xiujun, Wang Yaobin, Yang Chunhua, Liu Jian, Wang Jiguang, Guo Xinke, and Feng Yanmin; as well as relevant personnel from the functional departments and business centers of Minmetals, including Wei Shuxiang, Xu Zhongfen, Xue Fei, Liu Leiyun, Wang Wenhai, Chen Shaorong, Liu Qingchun, Yu Engang, Huang Kun, Wei Tao, He Zongchun, Sheng Qi, Ge Jin, and Bi Fan, also attended the meeting.
