On January 22, the 5th "China International Forum on Corporate Social Responsibility" themed by "Launching Chinese style Responsibility" and the awarding ceremony for "2009 Most Responsible Enterprises" was held at the Great Hall of the People. Minmetals was listed among "2009 Most Responsible Enterprises". President Zhou Zhongshu attended the awarding ceremony and delivered speech as the only entrepreneur representative. NPC Vice Chairman Hua Jianmin attended the forum and presented awards to the award-winning enterprises. Hua Jianmin congratulated President Zhou, saying that China Minmetals did an excellent job in 2009 and Zhou's speech on behalf of the business circle was impressive. Senior Vice President Li Fuli attended a dialogue themed on "Based on the Overseas Market, Working Responsibly for Win-win".
Zhou proposed Minmetals' three point view on fulfilling social responsibility: firstly, striving to create good business performance and constantly enhancing core competitiveness is the basic prerequisite and fundamental guarantee for the enterprise to assume social responsibility; secondly, practically guaranteeing safe production and actively strengthening environmental protection is the important content and inevitable demand of the enterprise to assume social responsibility; lastly, promoting social progress and world harmony is the fundamental driving force and ultimate objective of the enterprise to assume social responsibility.
This forum was directed by the Ministry of Commerce, State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council, State Administration of Industry & Commerce, General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine, State Administration of Work Safety, Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council, All China Federation of Trade Unions, Red Cross Society of China and China News Service, and jointly sponsored by China News Weekly and China Red Cross Foundation. Over ten enterprises like Lenovo, Hitachi China, Amway, COFCO and CSR, etc were also awarded. |
